Chicken Pox

Nothing funny here... Sometimes I just use the blog as a place to write down things so that I remember them years from now.

Oakley, this morning, has just popped up with some chicken pox looking things. What we thought were 3 mosquito bites this morning have expanded to be about 20 marks on Oak’s back. She seems to be feeling OK, which may be a result of being vaccinated.

Soooo…

• Probable infection came from Drew and Kristina at the beach.
• Incubation period is thought to be 10 to 20 days.
• Infectious period runs from 3 days prior to sores thru 1 to 2 days after scabbing.
• We’ll probably have Oak quarantined for a week or so.

I hope we didn't infect anyone!

She's a swimming star

2 weeks, 2 trips, 2 states... My ladies have been traveling all around the country. They spent last week at the beach with Grammie and Grandpa and then we all got together in Milwaukee with Nana and Papa.

Visits to Milwaukee during the summer are always one of my favorite parts of the year. The weather is fantastic, the company is great, and the facilities are perfect. Between a week of beach and pool time in NC and the week at the pool here, both of our girls have made huge progress in the water.

Oakley has gone from playing on the steps to actually going somewhere. Draped over a noodle, and with the help of a small push, Oakley was able to kick her way about 10 feet across the shallow end of the pool.

Aspen managed to motor across the pool without any assistance whatsoever. Face in the water, arms and legs thrashing, she did it. And on top of that, Papa helped Aspen learn how to jump off the side all by herself. This was quite remarkable given that Aspen didn't really want to put her face in the water a few weeks ago. It's been really exciting.
