Ready for Christmas
Well, it would seem the girls are ready for Christmas. What we're really excited about is that, so far, Aspen & Oakley are much more excited about decorating the tree than they are about what goes under it... Posted by Picasa

Papa visited too
Yes, Papa visited as well, and yes, they came together, but their pictures did not. So, they get separate postings. Posted by Picasa

Nana visited for Thanksgiving
Check it out, Nana came for a Thanksgiving visit! Yes, the Christmas tree is in the background, but take note, this picture was taken on Friday, not Thursday, so we're in compliance with Tim's dislike for early Christmas arrival. Posted by Picasa

First Smile (captured on film)
Somewhere in this sequence a smile occurred. I'm not sure which one will qualify as everyone's favorite, so I just included them all. Posted by Picasa

Lindy's turned a corner
Wow. Lindy has had herself a fantastic week. The first five weeks included a fair amount of grunting and crying, but Lindy has really gotten a few things worked out lately. 6 days of good solid feedings, sleepings, and hanging out have really served us all very well.

Congratulations, Lindy. Posted by Picasa

Team Names
Aspen just woke up from her nap, and we were talking about soccer team names. Aspen, of course, was on the bumblebees, a yellow team. We were discussing potential names for other teams.

When discussing the orange team, we considered

Oranges
Orange Juice
Orange Peels
Bananas (this was Aspen's joke)

She then moved on to brown teams. Her suggestions:

Peanut
Dirt

and...

Bathroomish

I think that's really funny. What a great team name.

"...the wall"
OK, so our kids definitely listen to us. This morning (soon after waking up), Oakley established that she wanted to wear the same outfit as yesterday. When she discovered it was in the dirty clothes, she said...

"My clothes can't be in the dirty clothes. It wears me down the wall."

I explained that it could "wear her out" or "drive her up the wall", but that I didn't think it could wear her down the wall.

As part of honoring Veteran's, Uncle Brian made a visit to Nashville. We had a great time just hanging out with Brian. Posted by Picasa

Hockey stuff
I took the girls (Aspen & Oakley) to the Predators' game tonight. As they do at most NHL games, there are things on the big screen during comercial breaks. One of the every game things at a Preds game is Lisa Patton from News 2 doing her little postgame weather forecast. (Yes, forecasting something that is literally 10 minutes away is difficult. She's amazing. She's also irritated me for years because she puts on a Preds jersey and holds a hockey stick. Mind you, she holds it upside down and backwards, and it's even the wrong handed stick for her.)

So, she talks, and then Aspen asks me, "Why did she say all that?" I reply, "I don't really know, honey."

Next came a puzzled look, followed by a very stern statement.

"We just want to hear about hockey stuff."

The Lindy Grunt
While she can't smile yet, she can display this look on request. The Lindy Grunt make regular appearances... Posted by Picasa

Little Miss Blue Eyes III
Well, they're certainly subject to change, but take a look at Lindy's eyes! While we haven't figured out how to make her smile on cue yet, she didn't do a bad job for this little photo shoot. Posted by Picasa

"Ooooh, the quiche!"
We have a good group of friends. They been bringing over food since Lindy was born, and we're enjoying it.

I was in the family room and asked Oakley to put something in the kitchen for me. She did so (incidentally, Oakley been really great the last week or so, listening, and doing funny stuff, it's cool). She then turned to come back to the family room and bumper her eye on the corner of the desk.

I saw it happen, and she broke into tears quickly. She ran to me and I was holding her while she cried. After a brief moment, our oven beeped three times (signifying the completion of our dinner). Oakley stopped crying immediately and said, "Oooooh, the quiche!"

"Carefully..."
Aspen was at school, and Jenn, Oakley, and Lindy were hanging out at home. Lindy's lunch time fell at the same time as Oak's, so Oakley got to eat at the little kids' table in the family room.

Oakley's supposed to sit in her blue chair, but, let's be honest... she spends most of the meal standing up. Well, at one point, Jenn looked over to see Oakley. She went thump, from standing all the way to the floor.

Upon returning to her feet, Oakley said laughing, "I fell very carefully."
