We've got Aspen's "Writer's Workshop" notebook on loan from the school. While I hope to scan the pictures and text at a later date, tonight, I'm sharing a five year old's text (with translations where necessary).

10-26-06: I rod a bot and it wz vaere fast and I sad on it.

10-24-06: I went to the goof.

10-23-06: I went to sait jon a cpo yarz a go. (I went to St. John a couple of years ago.)

10-25-06: I rod a rolrkosr wen I wez 4.

10-11-06: I had a luss toot.
10-30-06: I had a neitheer los tooth.

10-31-06: I am go to be a wich fro halwen.

11-14-06: I mad a boon (barn) and avee bdee thic (no idea). It wuz cut(e).

11-15-06: I had my soccer poodee at poi in the scii. (I had my soccer party at Pie in the Sky.)

11-1-06: I paed with my kezin (cousins) at the beth (beach).

Segway

Check out Aspen on the Segway at the new museum in Milwaukee. Well several things weren't quite ready, the site is amazing, and the Segway is pretty darn cool. No, it was not a Christmas gift, for Aspen or Tim.

Letter Pillows

One of the definite favorite gifts of 2006 were Karen's homemade letter pillows. Today, Aspen took hers to school for show and tell, and here, you see them all in all their glory.

Christmas Ladies

Check out all the girls at Christmas. This particular shot is a Martin family tradition. A lineup on the stairs Christmas morning precedes the run down the hall (in this case) the the Christmas tree. Clearly, the girls are ready.

"I have makeup on"

Oakley: Daddy, I have makeup on.
Tim: Really? You do?
Oakley: Yes.
Tim: What do you have on?
Oakley: I have water from my tongue on my eyebrows.

There's no doubt, Oakley is one stylish young lady.
